UI Design Emergency Detection Application in Children in Pandemic Period

 Departing from these conditions, Lecturer at the Faculty of Nursing, University of Indonesia (FIK UI) Dessie Wanda and also as the FIK Research, Publication and Community Service Manager, together with the team tried to design a prototype that could help nurses work in detecting emergencies in children.

Emergency conditions can occur anytime and to anyone, including children.  In dealing with emergency situations in children, it is difficult to determine the child's condition because usually children have not been able to convey the complaints they feel to their parents.

 Until now, nurses in all hospitals in Indonesia still use conventional (paper-based) methods to detect emergencies in children and take> 1 minute.  This of course slows down the work of nurses in detecting emergencies in children.

 Departing from these conditions, Lecturer at the Faculty of Nursing, University of Indonesia (FIK UI) Dessie Wanda and also as the FIK Research, Publication and Community Service Manager, together with the team tried to design a prototype that could help nurses work in detecting emergencies in children.

 This tool is an Android-based application called the Pediatric Assessment Triangle (PAT) which can detect emergencies in children quickly and precisely.  By reviewing the first impression on pediatric patients so that nurses can immediately provide assistance to prevent more severe complications and death.

 According to him, emergency detection using PAT can be done <1 minute.  PAT is very helpful for a health practitioner (nurses and other health workers) in detecting and dealing with emergencies in children, especially during the current pandemic.
